TRON MEYER
Skogen
20.8 - 27.9.20

ISCA Gallery is pleased to present the solo exhibition Skogen by Tron Meyer. The show, who’s title refers to the woods, is comprised of a series of cast resin sculptures and large paintings exploring our perception, experience and connection to the indoor and outdoor spaces we seek out or inhabit.

Meyer works to give physical form to light and atmosphere with his series of  Mushroom sculptures. These works consist of stacked cubes of subtle shades and gradients of luminous translucent color with spider-like forms and large rocks suspended inside. Each resin cube is individually and laboriously cast and polished to various degrees of transparency. The objects trapped and floating within the resin become magnified and distorted as one moves around the works creating an optic and sensory illusion. Light is captured and reflected by the cubes lucid facets, creating ever-changing patterns on the gallery floor.

Parallel to the sculptures, Meyer has created a series of large scale paintings in a pulsating palette that emphasize the importance of intuition and spontaneity within his artistic method. Meyer paints in a free-flowing manner, creating organic shapes in bright vivid colors that bring to mind figures or elements related to nature, architecture or interior objects. Some of the paintings incorporate bold solid edges that act like containers or windows onto imaginary scenes represented inside. The paintings are fitted in aluminum and glass frames, reflecting light and engaging the surrounding space. Simultaneously created in Meyers studio in Drammen, the paintings and sculptures are presented to interplay with one another and the gallery space with its large windows to the city as an extended framework.
